Simon Meredith Quartet (Nederlandse versie)
De Simon Meredith Quartet, uit Oxford, bestaat uit vier
getalenteerde jonge jazz musici. Individueel heeft ieder al
meermalen erkenning voor hun speel gekregen door de vele
prijzen en uitnodigingen.
De band speelt klassieke en hedendaagse jazz van een hoog
niveau.
Meermalen hebben zij als groep of individueel opgetreden in
de Europese landen.
Simon Meredith is een getalenteerd en gewaardeerd saxofonist.
Heeft gespeeld in gerenommeerde
orkesten zoals The Midland
Youth Jazz Orchestra,
het nationale orkest, en het wereldberoemde
Pasadena Roof Orchestra.
Op 16 jarige leeftijd ontving hij al de HMV prijs. En met de
The Hot Horns de grote prijs op het international Birmingham Jazz
Festival.
Ook is hij met zijn band frequent te beluisteren in de bekende
en beroemde clubs
van Ronnie Scott in London en Birmingham.
Momenteel trekt hij met zijn medestudenten uit Oxford alle
aandacht met
zijn Simon Meredith Quartet.
Deze zomer trekt de band door Europa van Spanje tot Nederland.

The Simon Meredith Quartet (English version)
The Oxford based band features some of the finest young
talent from all over Britain, playing original and contemporary
jazz by
artists such as Stan Getz and Dave Holland.
They are all well known musicians in their own right, and have
come together to perform a set of
exciting new, as well as classic, jazz music, like
well known tunes
by people such as Charlie Parker, Miles Davis etc etc
as well as
some more contemporary ones.
Also some funk/soul tunes if required!
eg Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin etc. Depends on
audience –
the band is happy to play whatever suits the occasion!
The members of the Simon Meredith Quartet are quite used to
playing on Tour, having performed in Germany, Holland,
Switzerland,
Individually in many other countries, with groups such as
the world famous Pasadena Roof Orchestra.
Band members
Simon Meredith, the saxofonist, was twice a finalist in the
Young Jazz Musician of the year competition, and was a
member of the award winning Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra
who regularly perform in the Netherlands.
The pianist, Will Bartlett, is well known for his exceptional
playing and compositions, which this year won him the
prestigious Best Young Musician prize in the
BBC National Big Band Competition.
Jon Cox, the Bassist is a regular on the London jazz scene and
frequently plays with world class musicians in the jazz clubs
of Berlin.
The drummer, Russell Whitehead, comes from Devon where he
is well known for his award winning contemporary style and
has recently returned from a tour of Sweden.
Vocals, Amy Matthew,is
the talented singer of the band.
Note.
As well as performing high quality jazz, they also play regularly
with a funk band and a group playing more popular tunes
by people such as Stevie Wonder!
